Well Informed 2.0 - Racism

Racism is a discussion talked about every day and it is very sad that it is still around in 2016. Racism is the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races. This was a big problem back in the 40's, 50's, and even the 60's. A lot of things have changed over time, but we still deal with racism in different parts of the country. Black people are not the only ones being discriminated against. Many different ethnicities are being racially profiled every day for the way they look, dress, and the way they talk. It's really sad because we shouldn't judge that person off of what we see at first. We don't know what that person does for a living or what they go through everyday.

Another topic of racism that is being talked about a lot recently is police brutality. We have seen on the news many police officers killing black people for things that they might not have done, but they killed them anyways. A trend called #BlackLivesMatter has be circulating for the past 2 years and some people respond by saying that all lives matter not just black lives. I do believe that all lives matter and everyone should have the same rights, but right now we are seeing a lot of police brutality and them killing black people. In my opinion, I feel that racism is going to be around for a very long time. The U.S. has had a big change by giving minorities a lot more rights but we still talk about it today.
